The title sums up the weather we’ve been having. I even experienced both seasons simultaneously on my run on Thursday: ice, mud and snow, oh and wind. And it snowed again on Friday.
Because the trails are either frozen ruts, great for breaking ankles, or a soft mess by the afternoon I actually had to run on a road. Yes, a road! I don’t think Kobi knew what to make of what we were doing. She rarely runs on a leash or on a road.
Notice she was sporting her new pretty purple harness and bungee style leash? I ordered her new accessories from Canadog. I’m almost a Canicrosser now, almost.
I was quite surprised she didn’t pull as much as I thought she would on a harness. I was kind of hoping for some help from her, but she mostly ran just off to the side slightly in front of me. I’ll try a longer lead next time and see what she does.
I wouldn’t have worn my purple Salomon’s had I known I wouldn’t actually be running in more mud and snow. I would have worn my purple Kinvera’s, still a good colour match with Kobi and better for road runs.
I almost sound more concerned about matching my running attire and shoes with my dog’s accessories than actually running. I’m not really, okay, maybe just a little bit.
Do you coordinate your running shoes with your running attire? Do you even care? Do you and your dog have matching accessories (if you run with a dog)?

Of course I coordinate and of course I care! 🙂 First I pick which running shoes I’ll wear, and then everything else accordingly.

And that’s why you always look so good in your photos! It makes sense to start with the shoes and go from there. I sometimes match my shoes to my outfit which doesn’t always fit the conditions best.

Haha, I do not really care what I look like when I run. Except on race day, then I like to wear my fave stuff. And I definitely do not match up with my dog on runs. Haha! Hooray for a road!!!

It’s important to wear your fave stuff on race day (and to look good for photos). Maybe it’s just a girl thing to want to coordinate colours and accessories with your dog.

I always have to match, shoes, clothes, underwear and when my old pup could still run, collars and leashes! I can totally relate! 🙂

That is awesome! I love that your pup had matching collars and leashes too. It’s important to be colour coordinated!

Wish my dog ran. She’s fat, and lazy. We got 1/4 mile and she’s done…

That’s too bad your dog is fat and lazy. That seems unusual for a dog. Maybe she needs to be eased in more slowly? Running with a dog is very very cool, especially when you get out on a trail together in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, she actually enjoys running around – mostly chasing things – but we got her from the pound and she was super malnourished, and I think it impacted her hip development because any sort of prolonged exercise (even just hiking) and she picks up a nasty limp. Kind of sucks.

That’s so sad. At least she has a decent home where she can chill when she needs to.

Sam wears all red but I don’t coordinate with her. I love that you and Kobi are matching!

I noticed Sam wore red a lot. She looks good in red. I know Kobi doesn’t care what colour she wears, but for some silly reason I like our colours to match. I’m going to have to find her a purple winter jacket now.
